Up to date Safety Standards
You can be sure that Mathmos lava lamps have passed all the relevant safety tests. Ensure your lamp is placed in a suitable environment for optimum use, we recommend a room between 20-24 degrees and positioned away from a heat source, window or breeze.
Unique Lava Formula
Mathmos unique lava lamp formula has brighter, clearer liquids, and lasts longer than other lava lamps. Your lamp should warm up within 1-1.5 hours of being switched on.
Highest Quality
Mathmos makes each Telstar to the highest quality with precision cast legs in either polished chrome or black nickel plate finish. You will find the Mathmos logo embossed on one leg.
Hand Filled Bottles
Every Mathmos bottle is carefully hand-filled at our Mathmos factory in Poole making each bottle unique. NB If there is a visible metal coil within the wax, this will settle as you run the lamp.
Poole, Dorset
Our home since 1963, absolutely no one knows more about lava lamps than Mathmos. We provide spare parts for our lava lamps including bottles, bases and bulbs to reduce landfill where possible.
Stylish Packaging
Well-designed gift packaging ensures your lamp arrives in perfect condition and can be appreciated from the moment it is seen.
Telstar Rocket Shaped Lava Lamp

- Mathmos' classic best-selling rocket-shaped lava lamp is made of chromed precision-cast metal with an embossed Mathmos logo on one of its legs.
- Small details like the embossed Mathmos logo on the leg, a transparent lead and silicone boots on the legs underline the product's superb quality.
- Each Telstar bottle is hand-filled in Mathmos' British factory using a unique, long-lasting lava lamp formula perfected by our founder, Edward Craven Walker, the inventor of the lava lamp.
